Sen. Arch. Sylvia M. Kasanga FCIArb
Sylvia is an award-winning mental health champion, practicing Architect and practising Arbitrator with 20 years’ experience in the construction industry. She is the Founder and Managing Director of Sycum Solutions Company Limited, an Architectural and Construction Management firm based in Nairobi.
Sylvia served as a Senator in the 12th Parliament where she sponsored the Mental Health Amendment Act 2022, ADR Bill and various other motions and statements. She is passionate about youth empowerment, mentorships and promoting technological advancements in rural communities. She is an active environmentalist with several tree planting projects.
She is currently serving as Vice Chair of the task force looking into legal pending bills in Nairobi County and Vice Chair in committee that will recommend the upgrading of Thika Town to Thika Smart City in Kiambu County.
Sylvia serves as the Treasurer at the Board of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Kenya and is a member of the UK Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She also serves as the Chairperson of the Lukenya University Board of Trustees and Interim President of The Architects Alliance. She is a board member in the Africa Mental Health Research and Training Foundation and has recently been made member of the International Advisory Board of HOPE Project. She is an Active Rotarian with the Lavington Club alongside many other activities.
Arch. Muchiri Waititu
Arch. Muchiri Waititu holds Bachelor of Architecture Degree from Jomo Kenyatta University of Technology (JKUAT). He is a registered Architect with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors and a member of the Architectural Association of Kenya. He previously served as Vice-Chair of the Construction Management Chapter and is currently the Chair of the Joint Building and Construction Council, an unmbrella organisation for the entire Construction Industry.
After completing his studies, Muchiri went into business as one of the founders of In-House Architects. This later merged with Adventis Limited to form Adventis In-House Africa Limited. He possesses enviable experience in Design and Project Management with an equally impressive entrepreneurial and innovative streak in real estate developments as lead consultant and pioneer of Makao Homes in partnership with Housing Finance and is a Real Estate Developer at Racecourse Gardens, a 464 unit comprehensive Housing scheme and Enkang Apartments, a 365 unit Apartment scheme. He was both Architect and Developer on both projects.
At AIA Architects, he has been instrumental in design and implementation of many projects including Educational institutions, Showrooms, Private Residences, Petroleum Service Stations, Restaurants, Large scale residential schemes and Airports.
Muchiri is involved in several CSR projects. He chairs various organizations committed to the improvement Education and Children Welfare.
Muchiri is a keen photographer and is also a classic car enthusiast tinkering with restoration of various classic vehicles.
Arch. Paul Ochieng
Arch. Paul Ochieng has over 20 years of work experience since graduation. He undertook his Undergraduate degree at the University of Nairobi-Kenya and his Masters’ degree at the University of Nottingham-UK.
Before venturing into private practice, Arch. Paul Ochieng held senior positions and accumulated vast professional and business experience in the built environment and infrastructure development sector having worked with both private and international public organizations. He managed multi-million development projects for UN agencies, Donor and humanitarian organizations as well as private corporates in the UK, South East Asia, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Ghana, South Sudan, Somalia and Kenya.
Arch. Paul Ochieng is the founder and Principal of award-winning Outsource Designs Limited, an architectural firm he co-founded in 2010. Through this firm, he has delivered several real-estate projects ranging from hospitality, healthcare, educational institutions, residential to commercial mixed-use properties.
His main areas of expertise are in project planning, architectural design, project management, operations and strategy, and contracts administration.
